A Home Visit Explained

Inviting someone into your home to look at jewellery, antiques or inherited possessions requires trust. I completely understand that, which is why I want you to know exactly what to expect before I visit.

From my first conversation with you, I explain how everything works and answer any questions you may have. There is no obligation to sell, nothing is done behind closed doors, and you are very welcome to have a family member or friend with you during the appointment.

Understanding the Process

Taking the step to have your items valued is simple, transparent, and completely at your own pace - here is how the valuation works from start to finish.

1. It Starts With a Conversation

I prefer to speak with you personally before arranging a home visit. It gives us a chance to talk about what you have, answer any questions and explain exactly how the appointment will work. I also encourage new clients to do their own research. You can read my Google reviews, learn more about me on my Founder page or read my interview with Freshmill. I want you to feel comfortable and know who you're inviting into your home.

2. Family and Friends Are Always Welcome

You are always welcome to have a family member or friend present during my home visit. I'll explain what I'm looking at as we go along and answer any questions you may have during the valuation.

3. I Value Your Items in Front of You

I examine your items in front of you, using professional tools such as my jeweller's loupe and approved weighing scales where needed. I'll explain everything as I examine your items, including hallmarks, gold or silver content, age, condition and anything else that may be important.

4. Sometimes My Advice Is to Keep It

Not everything has to be sold. Sometimes an item may have more sentimental or family value than its monetary value, and I'll tell you if I think it may be worth keeping. My job is to give you honest advice so you can decide what feels right for you.

5. There Is No Obligation to Sell

Once I have valued your items, I'll give you a clear, straightforward offer. There is never any pressure or obligation to sell. You can keep certain pieces, sell just a few items, or decide not to sell at all. It is always your decision.

6. Secure Bank Transfer If You Choose to Sell

If you decide to accept my offer, payment is made by secure bank transfer. I'll make sure the money has arrived in your bank account before I leave and provide you with a full receipt for the transaction.
