Different pieces sitting in the same jewellery box can contain very different amounts of gold.

 

Here, the chain is 9ct gold, while the cufflinks are 18ct gold. I examine each piece individually, checking its purity, weight and whether it has value beyond the precious metal itself.

 

You don’t need to separate 9ct from 18ct or understand the hallmarks beforehand. That’s my job.
