Why Sell to Antiques of Sussex?
With more than 30 years' experience and 200+ genuine 5-star Google reviews, I provide a personal, straightforward buying service for gold, silver, jewellery, watches, coins, medals and antiques. I offer free home valuations across Sussex or private appointments at my Haywards Heath office, with no obligation to sell. If you accept my offer, payment is made directly by secure bank transfer on the day you sell.
DIRECT, PERSONAL SERVICE
When you contact Antiques of Sussex, you deal directly with me. I can visit you in the privacy of your own home or arrange a private appointment at my Haywards Heath office. I take the time to assess your items carefully, explain what I can see and answer any questions before you decide whether you wish to sell.
DIRECT PAYMENT BY SECURE BANK TRANSFER
If you accept my offer, payment is made directly by secure bank transfer on the day you sell. I make sure the money is in your account before the appointment is completed, whether we meet at your home or at my Haywards
Heath office.
FREE, NO-OBLIGATION VALUATIONS
My valuations are free and there is no obligation to sell. I can assess items you are considering selling as well as pieces you may simply want to understand better. Appointments can take place in your home or privately at my Haywards Heath office. If you decide to accept my offer, payment is made directly by secure bank transfer on the
day you sell.
SPECIALIST WATCH & JEWELLERY SOURCING
I also offer a specialist sourcing service for selected high-end watches and diamond jewellery, including Rolex and other recognised luxury brands. Through my long-standing contacts in the trade, I can also introduce clients to a leading UK watch and jewellery specialist who is well known from television and whom I know personally.
30+ YEARS' EXPERIENCE
I have more than 30 years' experience buying and assessing antiques, jewellery, watches, gold, silver, coins and other collectable items. That experience helps me recognise when an item may have value beyond its basic precious-metal content and explain clearly what I am seeing during a valuation.
UNDERSTANDING THE COSTS OF SELLING AT AUCTION
Selling through an auction house can involve seller's commission, agreed expenses, waiting for the auction date and the possibility that an item may not sell. Selling directly to me avoids seller's commission on my agreed offer and gives you the certainty of knowing exactly what I am offering before you decide. All transactions are handled
privately and confidentially.

DIRECT SALE VS AUCTION: UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE
Auction Costs Can Reduce What You Receive
Illustrative Example:
Auction Charges vs a Direct Sale
Auction charges vary between auction houses and according to the individual sale. Sellers may pay commission and other agreed expenses, while buyers may also pay a separate buyer's premium on top of the hammer price. These costs, together with the time involved in consigning, selling and receiving settlement, are important factors when comparing an auction with a direct sale.
When I make a direct offer, the figure I agree with you is the amount you receive. There is no seller's commission deducted from my offer, and if you decide to sell, payment is made directly by secure bank transfer on the day you sell.

An auction result and the final amount received by the seller can differ once the agreed selling charges have been deducted. With Antiques of Sussex, you receive a clear direct offer with no obligation to sell, either in the privacy of your own home or at my Haywards Heath office.

Selling directly can provide a simpler alternative to auction, with no seller's commission deducted from my agreed
offer.

My offers are informed by more than 30 years' experience and established relationships with private collectors, interior designers and selected specialist dealers. These contacts can be particularly useful when assessing unusual, specialist or higher-value jewellery, watches and antiques.

Many auction houses charge the buyer a separate premium on top of the hammer price. This is paid by the buyer rather than deducted directly from the seller's proceeds, but it forms part of the overall cost a bidder
considers when deciding how much to bid.
