Midhurst is one of West Sussex’s most historic market towns, surrounded by beautiful countryside, period properties and long-established family homes. It is not unusual for jewellery, silver and antiques to remain within the same family for generations before someone decides to discover what they may be worth.
Whether you have inherited a small jewellery collection, are parting with pieces you no longer wear or simply wish to understand the value of treasured possessions, I provide honest, no-obligation valuations throughout Midhurst and the surrounding villages.
Rather than transporting valuable items into town, many clients prefer the convenience of a private home visit. I carefully assess every item in front of you, explain how each valuation is reached and answer any questions before making a fair offer. If you would rather visit me, private appointments are also available at my Haywards Heath office.
Recent Purchases Across Sussex
Every valuation is different. Some clients ask me to assess a single bracelet or ring, while others have carefully assembled collections built up over many decades. The photographs below show genuine items recently purchased during home visits across Sussex and demonstrate the variety of jewellery I regularly value and buy.
Multi-Strand Two-Tone Gold Bracelet

A beautifully crafted multi-strand two-tone gold bracelet purchased from a client during a home visit in Sussex. Quality gold bracelets are assessed for their gold purity, craftsmanship, condition and overall desirability before a valuation is offered.
Gold bracelets like this often remain in families for many years before being sold. Whether modern or vintage, I carefully examine the clasp, construction, hallmarks and overall quality so every piece receives an accurate valuation based on more than just its precious metal weight.
Mixed 18ct & 22ct Gold Jewellery Collection

A collection of mixed 18ct and 22ct gold jewellery purchased during a home visit in Sussex. Every item is individually tested, weighed and assessed to ensure an accurate and transparent valuation.
Mixed collections like this regularly contain jewellery gathered over many decades. Every ring, chain, pendant and bracelet is individually sorted, tested and weighed, ensuring valuable pieces are not overlooked by treating everything as scrap gold.
Diamond Half Eternity Ring

Diamond jewellery is assessed for its precious metal content, diamond quality, craftsmanship and overall desirability before a valuation is provided. Antiques of Sussex is always keen to look at any kind of Diamond jewellery.
Diamond rings remain among the most popular items I purchase. Whether it’s a modern half eternity ring, an engagement ring or an inherited family piece, every diamond is assessed individually rather than simply valuing the ring for its precious metal content alone.
Tiffany & Co. Heart Link Silver Bracelet

A genuine Tiffany & Co. heart link sterling silver bracelet. Designer silver jewellery is assessed for its authenticity, maker, condition and collectability as well as its precious metal content. Antiques of Sussex is always keen to look at any types of Silver Jewellery.
Many people assume silver jewellery is only worth its metal value, but recognised makers such as Tiffany & Co. often command significantly higher prices. Designer jewellery is always assessed individually to identify any additional collector or brand value before an offer is made.

What I Buy
Every collection tells a different story. Some clients have a single treasured ring, while others have jewellery, watches and silver gathered over several generations.
I regularly purchase a wide variety of valuable items, including:
Jewellery & Gemstones
Gold jewellery, diamond rings, engagement rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, lockets, brooches, antique jewellery and modern designer pieces.
Gold & Silver
Gold coins, sovereigns, scrap gold, broken jewellery, sterling silver jewellery, silver tableware, tea services, trays, candlesticks and decorative silver.
Watches
Vintage wristwatches, antique pocket watches, gold watches and quality modern timepieces.
Antiques & Collectables
Coins, medals, militaria, vintage postcards, antique books, paper ephemera, curios and unusual historical items.
If you're unsure whether your items may have value, you're always welcome to get in touch. I'm happy to look at individual pieces or complete collections, providing honest advice and a free, no-obligation valuation.
My Valuation Process
I believe selling jewellery and antiques should feel straightforward, informative and completely pressure-free.
Every appointment begins by looking through your items together. I will identify what you have, explain any hallmarks, maker’s marks or interesting features, and assess each piece individually according to its precious metal content, gemstone quality, craftsmanship, age, rarity and current market demand.
Many clients are surprised to learn that certain pieces are worth considerably more than their precious metal content alone. Designer jewellery, antique pieces and quality diamond rings can all command premiums that are easily overlooked without specialist knowledge.
Once everything has been assessed, I’ll provide a clear, no-obligation offer. If you decide to sell, payment is made immediately by secure bank transfer. If you choose not to proceed, that’s absolutely fine—there is never any pressure or obligation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does designer jewellery have value beyond its silver or gold content?
Yes. Jewellery from recognised makers, such as Tiffany & Co., is often worth considerably more than its precious metal value alone. Brand, authenticity, condition, desirability and original design can all influence the final valuation.
Should I keep the original jewellery box or paperwork?
Yes. If you still have the original presentation box, purchase receipt, warranty or certificates, it's always worth keeping them together with the jewellery. While they aren't essential, they can increase buyer confidence and, in some cases, add to the overall value of certain pieces.
Can older handmade jewellery be worth more than modern jewellery?
Absolutely. Older jewellery often displays levels of craftsmanship, design and hand finishing that are rarely seen today. Antique and vintage pieces may also have collector appeal, making them worth significantly more than their precious metal content alone.
Can I sell gold and silver jewellery during the same appointment?
Yes. Many home visits include a mixture of gold jewellery, silver jewellery, watches, coins and antiques. I'm happy to assess mixed collections together, ensuring every item is individually valued and nothing of interest is overlooked.
Do you buy inherited jewellery collections?
Yes. Many clients contact me after inheriting jewellery that has remained in the family for many years. Whether you have a handful of pieces or an entire jewellery collection, I'll carefully explain what you have and provide a fair, transparent, no-obligation valuation.
